Community Defense Against Wildfire
Our communities in the west are vulnerable to wildfire during drought conditions, especially as the impacts of climate change increase. We work to provide adaptation solutions to wildfire hazards.
Whether you’re a nonprofit organization or a federal agency, Lynker Intel has the experience, knowledge, and skill to work with you and your organization to create custom solutions for your unique needs.
“The future of the Office of Water Prediction hinges on our ability to provide flood inundation mapping and other geospatial data and service. We would not be able to succeed on these important goals without the skills and talents and dedication of the people working on this task.”
– NOAA Office of Water Prediction
“A heartfelt special thanks goes to Lynker, who used their technical expertise to coordinate with town members to map out our new floodplain. As Lynker put it a couple of weeks ago, ‘We won’t be giving you a Stream Corridor Master Plan, we’ll be getting it from you’ — and that is exactly what they did. Over the past month, private property owners along the stream have met tirelessly with the Lynker engineers to discuss wishes for stream placement in the context of safety and mitigation. The result is a newly defined floodplain. Not only was this delivered on time and with the town’s approval, but far ahead of any other flood affected community.”
– Tara Schoedinger, Former Mayor, Jamestown, Colorado
“Lynker Technologies have always been available for Aurora’s water resources modeling needs and have consistently provided a cost-effective and useable modeling option.”
– Prakash Kaini, PE, City of Aurora, CO
“The staff at Lynker have been indispensable in helping Aurora Water staff in maintaining our model by providing trainings and updates to our team on new modeling features added to CRAM, and giving us security about the future of our modeling platform.”
– Prakash Kaini, PE, City of Aurora, CO
“Full Lynker team kept large scope moving with numerous tasks making progress in tandem.”
– Megan Holcomb (CWCB Senior Climate Specialist)
“The Colorado Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHSEM) is extremely satisfied with the services and attention provided by Lynker with regards to meeting the needs of our project. It was not an easy lift and involved extreme time constraints, yet Lynker’s staff went above and beyond to ensure overall success. Lynker was only a phone call away, and staff was very pleasant in resolving any questions/issues, worked collectively with a multitude of agencies and data, and provided DHSEM with the critical attention required throughout the life of our complex project.”
– Patricia Gavelda (Mitigation Section Planning Team Supervisor)
Our communities in the west are vulnerable to wildfire during drought conditions, especially as the impacts of climate change increase. We work to provide adaptation solutions to wildfire hazards.
The potential impacts of drought on communities is clearly visible in the dropping reservoir level at Lake Meade and Lake Powell in the Colorado River basin. We work with municipalities to identify and forecast the magnitude and severity of droughts from a water system perspective.
related capabilities
Irrigation for agriculture is supplied by surface water and groundwater sources, both of which are impacted by drought through different mechanisms. Drought may motivate the leasing of water, sale of cattle, or decision on whether to plant for the season. We provide geospatial solutions to analyze drought impacts while considering future climate change.
related capabilities
Flood hazards present profound risks to both life and property. We combine localized impact data along with cutting-edge forecast models to help communities and business plan for, respond to, and adapt to flood hazards.
related capabilities
Rising sea levels and accelerated coastal erosion due to climate change present major risks to urban coastal areas and infrastructure. We can provide modeling solutions to guide mitigation planning efforts to proactively protect life and property.
related capabilities
Climate change, overfishing, and industrial development are leaving a lasting impact on our world’s fisheries. Sustainable fisheries are a necessity for the next generation populating our coastal communities. Lynker Intel can help guide decision makers in protecting and encouraging growth of this valuable natural resource.
related capabilities
Earthquakes can abruptly and catastrophically damage unprepared urban areas. Lynker Intel can provide customized risk assessment and hazard mapping to help local leaders prepare for the unexpected.
related capabilities
Increased temperatures present our urban population centers with unique challenges. Infrastructure decisions made by previous generations need to be reevaluated and updated to mitigate the effects of climate change. Lynker Intel can help identify problem areas such as heat islands to improve public health and quality of life.
